To Hindu Students Council,
Edison, New Jersey, USA:
The expanding fields of technology and the unlimited, barrier-less world of internet access, have together narrowed down the boundaries of the modern civilized world. With the extended abilities and unlimited resources at his command, man is now almost on the verge of a God-less world, where any religion has no role to play. Man feels that all problems of life can be solved without the need of putting God into trouble.
Yet, there are moments when even the inanimate nature cows down the man with its limitless energy and inexplicable phenomena such as earthquakes, tsunamis, erupting volcanoes, fear of nuclear wars, chemical weapons, and various other disasters. In the wake of such a drastic scenario, man feels frustrated and looks toward some higher superior authority which would help him out.
He looks out for some system, which would lead him to the Supreme Reality, where all problems stand solved and all woes vanish magically. narrow religious, segments, sects are no longer relevant to him. He seeks some all encompassing mechanism which covers everyone and which can address the woes of human beings on the global level.
It is at this juncture that the Hindu religion comes into play. With its doctrine of "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam," (the whole world is one family), Hinduism is the only religion which can address and appeal to the psyche of every single person on this globe. The principles of compassion towards all, non-violence, non-aggression, coordination, harmony and peaceful co-existence, make Hinduism an all embracing umbrella type of system which makes possible an atmosphere of living together with universal brotherhood and camaraderie.
I extend my best wishes for the overall grand success of the Global Dharma Conference and pray to the Lord Almighty to bestow health, wealth, and peace to all participants. May God bless all.
In the service of Divinity and Humanity,
Swami Satyamitranand Giri
